Mt. Saint Helena

One of our "liberal" high school English teachers gave the class an assignment to take a hike or walk somewhere outside the touch of man. While the entire class moaned at the blight of this assignment, my pal Johnny and I were ecstatic. We're always talking about climbing mountains and here comes the chance to do and have a reason for doing it. Once we got to Mt. St. Helena we almost immediately left the trail and journeyed up the slope where we saw more breathtaking sights than if we had stayed on the normal road. There were points where we were afraid we'd never find a path back down. This is what I love to do the most.
