L'illusionniste II

Kat and I caught a showing of L'illusionniste after a while when I thought it would never be released in Portland. It was only at one theater; cinema 21, a one screen theater (with beer) in the northwest. It was an excellent experience.

As for the movie... I believe it's a runner-up for the greatest animated movie of all time. I hope it will pioneer the idea that THIS is what animation is. Every frame is expressive, every scene is as delicately put together as if it were a masterpiece painting. With no dialogue whatsoever Chomet, and Tati, expressed more than anything any modern animation studio in America could ever dream of.

So go see it. Right now. And tell Dreamworks and Pixar they should be held to higher standards than a sequel to every piece of trash they release. As a side comment I've always said that sequels in animation is the laziest thing in the world, the animation world has so much potential, anything is possible. But I understand they're not making a statement with crap like Cars 2, they just want a sequel in money.

PS: In other animation news I just signed up for an internship with The Mel Blanc Project here in P-Town. Check out the website: http://melblancproject.wordpress.com/
